According to a report on boxofficeindia.com, the early estimates of the film are reported to be around Rs 65 crore nett, but a lot depends on the collections of the night shows. Nevertheless, the film is expected to come out victorious by registering an impressive Rs 275 crore nett weekend.
The numbers recorded thus far, are just from the original Hindi format, there will be an additional Rs 8-9 crore nett collection from regional sectors.
The report also stated that hitting the Rs 275 crore milestone has been ‘unthinkable’ even for a lifetime collection of a Bollywood release. The last time a Hindi release hit the target was during the release of the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer ‘WAR’ that hit screens in 2019. Coincidently the film was helmed by the same director Siddharth Anand.
The report further adds that the smaller B and C centres, including single screens, have been registering big numbers, adding to the success of the film. While the collections coming in on Sunday are expected to be better than the opening day numbers, it remains to be seen if the film will surpass the mammoth Republic day collections of an estimated Rs 70 crore.
Meanwhile, in metros and some of the other bigger centres, the collections are expected to slow down.
“Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Kha in his first role in five years, settled in fifth place with $5.9 million from only 695 screens.
According to Variety, the film is smashing records at the box office in North America – the most prominent one being that the film landed the biggest opening day gross ever for a Hindi-language production on January 25. The report further stated that ‘Pathaan’ drew an estimated USD 1.86 million opening day gross across 694 locations in North America, marking the best per-theatre average for any current release.
